Summer's Fleeting Days

  • Collecting data on a dissertation project (more thrilling details below);
  • Teaching elective middle school fitness and recreation games classes during a 4-week summer school block, which thankfully ended yesterday! (this T agreed to when he thought he might be joining D in the ranks of Ramen noodle poor graduate students; more below);
  • Spending time in the same state whenever possible;
  • Running, walking, biking, and swimming at the crack of dawn to escape this summer's blistering heat;
  • Reconnecting with family and friends;
  • Canoeing and kayaking, sitting by the fire, attending outdoor theater and music concerts, eating on the porch looking out over the water, playing card games, and sipping wine in good company at our family cottage on Lake Michigan;
  • Getting ready to welcome D's brother home from Afghanistan--again!--soon;
  • Attempting to lay low before the football season begins again;
  • And now, updating you with four blog posts about our year's latest . . .
