Number Crunching

July 1. Seems like summer is, as always, racing by for us. Thought we'd give a brief update according to the numbers.

33 - Years we've both have been enjoying life as of June.

10 - Songs that Hall and Oates sang at the concert they headlined at Ravinia in Chicago where we picnicked to celebrate our anniversary. Apparently, '80s superstars wear out easily. Yes, T planned this celebration. And yes, we did see mullets, even if wigs.

8 - Years we've been married as of June. And who knew we'd be playing house each summer eight years into our marriage? Although the honeymoon to Michigan via Penske truck should have clued us in even then.

8 - Days and counting that our contractors have been working to disconnect our home's tile drainage from the sewer and install a sump pump with lines running around the back of our house and out to the front street. Because they've found that the contractors who built the house used the yard as place to dispose of waste, they have been unable to use regular means and we now have a new sidewalk slab and a rather large hand dug trench that grown men can stand in chest-high. They hope to finish by Friday of next week! (The photo below is pre-sidewalk trouble and trenching. We were particularly fond of the camouflage effort.)

6 - Legs of the WI-MI or MI-WI trip we've made in the month of June, including D's one Amtrak leg complete with the requisite 2 hour delay that accompanies most Amtrak trips. T's getting particularly good at chauffeuring D around in the backseat so that she can set-up her traveling office to work on her summer exam.

3 - Days D spent in NYC at an English education conference in June with wonderful colleagues and a welcome opportunity to reconnect with her cousin.

1 - Number of bathrooms T's is completely remodeling this summer.

0 - Number of operable showers we have in our home right now. We're busy acquainting ourselves with the local public swimming pools as a result. And we have figured out that if we go close enough to closing the attendants will both look at us oddly for coming to swim for 20 min and will let you in for free because they've already cashed out of their registers. We share in case you too desire to swim for free in town.
